Hi there! I'm a teacher and software engineer with 12 years of combined experience. Currently looking for a career that combines the two.
I spent five years as an engineer working mostly in C++, JavaScript, Python, and Flask — time split between a NetApp internship and later a full-time firmware role, CU Space Grant (where I helped build the power system for the DANDE research satellite), an distance education project with NapoNet, and a water monitoring dashboard with In‑Situ. On the side, I built an Android game that eventually became a 3D Unity game, Monk vs Ninjas, part of my project to use my talents to bring people joy.
I taught for eight years across engineering, math, ESL, English, creative writing, film, and computer science; after two years of substitute teaching to make sure it was really what I wanted. It was: I went on to earn a master's degree in Education and student taught in a wonderfully diverse high school. I am currently in the process of moving out of the classroom and into a role that combines my experience in education and technology.
I created and led A Thousand and One Stories, a literary journal I built from scratch: designing the site, writing plugins in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, managing submissions, editing, hiring a small team of editors, and forming an LLC to handle payments. We published over 100 stories from authors around the world. Writing runs through the rest of my life too: I hold an English bachelor's degree with a focus in Creative Writing. I completed an honors thesis in Creative Writing, had nine stories published and four plays performed, and played music in three rock bands and a high school jazz band, and occasionally taking original songs to open mic nights.
I taught ESL in Suzhou, China for a year and in Madrid, Spain for several months, and worked as a Spanish–English translator on a trip to Napo, Peru, assessing whether an existing telecom network could be repurposed for education. I studied Chinese for two semesters, including one at Xi'an Jiaotong University, and I now speak both Spanish and Chinese at an intermediate level. On my list of incredibly fun things I will never do again, I climbed Long's Peak, hiked the Salkantay Trail to Machu Picchu, and walked the famously vertigo-inducing plank walk of Hua Shan.

Built and shipped a production full-stack app: Angular frontend, Flask backend; aggregating real-time water-quality sensor data for environmental field teams. Designed REST APIs, wrote time-series SQL, and deployed on Google App Engine.
Developed and maintained production C++ for a cloud backup solution running on large-scale enterprise storage, across a large multi-year codebase, in a Linux/Git/Vim/tmux Agile shop.
Developed and tested embedded C/C++ firmware for the power subsystem of the DANDE CubeSat research satellite, including a one-wire-bus data acquisition system, validated hardware-in-the-loop.
Owned desktop support and systems administration for a Windows-based engineering lab: account management, patching, and hands-on troubleshooting so engineering work never stalled.
